Kids' Four-Week Artist Study – Tuesdays 6-8pm, starting September 5th

Bring your kids (ages 8 and up) to The MAC to join Ms. Trinity for a four-week long study of various artists and artistic media. Each week, students will learn about a different artist. and what makes his or her style unique. They will then make their own pieces of art inspired by each artist of the week.

  • Week 1 - Georges Seurat: Students will learn about French impressionist, Georges Seurat, and his stylistic form of painting: Pointillism. They will then create their own version of one of his works using cotton swabs and watercolor paints.
  • Week 2 - Gustav Klimt: Students will view some works from Austrian symbolist, Gustav Klimt. They will then create their own piece of art focusing on patterns and shapes, using small pieces of construction paper, glue, and markers.
  • Week 3 - Georgia O'Keefe: Students will familiarize themselves with the Mother of American Modernism, Georgia O’Keeffe. They will then use paint, construction paper, and tissue paper to create their own 3-D version of O'Keeffe's painting, Red Poppies.
  • Week 4 - Frank Lloyd Wright: Students will get to know works by American architect, interior designer, and writer, Frank Lloyd Wright, learning about shape, line, and symmetry. They will then learn to make"glass" paint, and create their own faux stained glass piece on vellum paper.

Instructor Bio, Trinity Bray-Jett: I went to ISU for elementary education and was a paraprofessional (resource aide) for 12 years at CUSD#7, working with students in 4th-8th grade. My artistic background focuses on music and theater, and I am a craft-aholic!
