"But, I'm not really a writer...": Inspiring the uninspired
(K-5/5-8/9-12) (2 hours) No matter what grade you teach, there will always be students who tell you that they are not writers. Inspiring those who do not believe in their ability to write is difficult, to say the least. At the end of this workshop, you will have the tools to inspire even the most un-inspirable student!
A few things we will cover:
- Know your audience: Interesting writing prompts for even the most un-inspirable students
- Beating the Block: How to remove the concept of "writer's block" from their vocabulary
- Write like you are running out of time: Motivational techniques for the lazy summer brain
Creating games to initiate & inspire involvement
(K-5/5-8/9-12) (2 Hours) This workshop's goal is to show you how to create and incorporate games into your creative writing curriculum!
Some of the games we will be creating:
- Story Bags
- Emoji Prompts
- Roll a Story
- Making and incorporating "story stones"
- Creating an inspiring journal template
- Roll it, Write it (for reluctant writers)
- Inspiration Jars
Free to educators in ROE40 (see below)
