The MAC offers a number of one-shot classes for beginners in a variety of media. These single-session classes include time in our studios, use of our tools and equipment, access to materials, and in-depth instruction from an experienced artist.

Hunting for painted rocks has become quite a hot activity this summer, and The MAC wants to get in on the fun! Bring your kiddos up from noon to 1pm on Friday, July 28th, and use our space and materials to paint some rocks. Then you can go hide your rocks around town and join the Staunton Rocks! Facebook group to keep track of who finds them and how far they go!
One in a series of classes from professional photographer, James Labonte, that will take you from the essential basics you need to master, all the way to taking professional quality portraits. This class meets on Wednesday July 26st, 6:30 to 8pm.
In this more advanced digital photography class you will explore what 'exposure' means and how you can use that to take better photos. You will also learn about your camera’s built in light meter. All classes are hands on, so bring your gear and be ready to learn.
Please Note: Students will need to bring their own digital SLR camera, battery fully charged with plenty of storage space available on the memory card.
Join us for an adults-only night of tie-dyeing fun. Bring a friend and BYOB, and instructor Nicole Ottwell will teach you how to make brightly colored patterns on plain white cotton fabric using a variety of tie-dyeing techniques.
Dress to get messy, and bring in your own white t-shirt or other article of clothing to dye (must be 100% cotton).
The cost of the class includes dye for one article of clothing. If there is time and you want to dye additional articles, you can do so by paying an additional fee for materials.

This workshop is open to the public at a cost of $20, but patrons who have signed up as volunteers for the 8th Annual Staunton Art Fair can attend for free to dye their ‘volunteer’ t-shirts (provided by the city of Staunton) for the fair.
