Did you know we have a small gallery in our space that we love to showcase local artists’ work?!

If you would like to showcase your own work -OR- curate a themed show made up of a variety of local artists, please read through the following information:

  •  First, you will need to come up with the subject/focus of your exhibition to fill our approximately 12’x20’ space. If you are interested in being a curator of others’ art, you can pick a theme for your show; it helps participating artists to have a goal in mind for work they might complete for your show.

  • If you are curating a show, you will need to invite local artists. Ask your friends! But also research some artists who live in your area. We can fit a number of pieces on our walls, so we can help you decide how many artworks to accept into your show. We will provide you with an online form for artists to fill out. Each artist will need to fill this form out in order to be officially accepted into the show.

  • Make a poster about your gallery show. You should include these items on your poster: dates & times our art center is open, date & time for your opening, location, theme name, and an illustration. Think about the words as being pieces of art, too.

  • Also, a great addition is to look up different apps that will allow you to use your own artwork but also have the ability to add text. We normally use Adobe Spark to create a lot of our graphic design. (Adobe spark is a free app for iPhones, or free web app (https://www.adobe.com/express/ ))

  • You’ve accepted your artists. You have your artwork picked from each artist. Now we need to put the art up in the gallery.

  • You will be using hammer and nails and possibly ladders to get all the artwork on the wall.

  • Gallery Opening

  • All the work is hung. Now it’s time to show it off. We will have a gallery reception. (The artist/curator will coordinate the opening date with The MAC before any publicity is done.)

  • We ask that the gallery curator bring snacks and drinks (covid=no snacks & drinks). You can traditionally ask other participating artists to help make sure there are nibbles and drinks. At this time, we will need all of the snacks and drinks to be in individual wrappings.

  • Take down

  • Once the show is over it is time to take it off the walls. The Artist/Curator will need to remove all works of art from The MAC.

  • The artist/curator will need to come into the gallery to pull nails and patch holes.
