In this one shot class friends will learn how to inlay slip into the surface of a clay pot. Mishima Ceramics comes from the Japanese Island of Mishima, but it was originally transported from Korea around the 16th century. This surface design technique is a way of drawing by inlaying a slip of contrasting color into lines incised in leather-hard clay. Students will receive one leather hard 9” circular plate to inlay a design on (students may bring designs in with them) Students can also purchase other clay plates for $10/plate- an email must be sent 7 days before class requested extra plates to office@macart.org
Students plates will be white with black lines when finished. Students are welcome to come in at a time of their choosing and color and glaze their plates. We can discuss a time during class.

Needle tool
