Description: In this one night course, Miss Ruthie will teach students hand-building and sculpting basics, clay tools and properties to create an adorable, functional vase. Inspired by trendy home decor pieces from pricey retailers. Each student will create basic slab-built candelabras, and glaze their piece for a once-fire process. Students may create a few pieces if time always. Students are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks to the class and relax while making art. 

Create and Party: Watercolor Mushroom Doodles

Description : Miss Ruthie will teach students how to create watercolor mushroom doodles. Students will learn simple watercolor, masking, and ink techniques, and gain an understanding of watercolor and its properties. This class is meant for friends who would like to relax and try something new. No specific end goal/product, but more so for experimenting and enjoying the process. Each student will leave class with several small flower doodles. Students are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks to the class and relax while making art.

Description : Miss Ruthie will teach students how to create this ceramic hanging vase. A great project for the cut flower, or plant cutting obsessed! Students will learn simple handbuilding techniques, how to use a variety of clay tools, and gain an understanding of clay and its properties. Each student will make two hanging pocket pots in class, and will be glazed that night for a once-fire. Students are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks to the class and relax while making art.

Create and Party-Ceramic Vase to Floral Design 3-Week Course
August 2, August 9, August 16, 2024

Description: In this 3-week course, Miss Ruthie will teach students hand-building and sculpting basics, clay tools and properties to create an adorable, functional vase. Inspired by trendy home decor pieces from pricey retailers. In the first week, each student will hand-build a vase. Week two, students will glaze their bisque-fired vase, and we will go over flowers and floral design basics. Week three, students will design their own floral arrangement in their finished vase. Students are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks to the class and relax while making art.

Description : Miss Ruthie will teach students how to create this ceramic watercolor palette. Students will learn simple handbuilding/slab-building techniques, simple underglaze/glaze techniques, how to use a variety of clay tools, and gain an understanding of clay and its properties. Each student will make a paint palette, and will decorate and glaze for a once-fire. Students are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks to the class and relax while making art.

Can you imagine creating new universes with acrylic painting? In this 6-week acrylic course Miss Ruthie will instruct students who are beginners with acrylic painting. Students will learn all about the medium and how to use it in fun ways to create unimaginable results. Students will learn and use a variety of acrylic supplies and materials. Students will explore many acrylic techniques, work on their technical art skills like brush precision and pressure, blending and transparency, color theory, etc.

Monochromatic Abstract Spackle Painting
September 13, 2024

Description : Miss Ruthie will teach students how to create this monochromatic abstract painting with your regular household spackle. Great for beginners. Students will learn simple acrylic techniques and gain an understanding of abstract design. Each student will leave class with a lovely textured abstract painting. Students are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks to the class and relax while making art.
